SpaceX Fee Pulled From Port Canaveral Meeting Agenda

Port CEO Says Relationship With The Commercial Space Company Is Good

After considering a tariff that would have charged SpaceX about $15,000 to bring boosters back into Port Canaveral and offload them from the droneship landing pad, Port Canaveral CEO John Murray pulled the item from Wednesday's meeting agenda.

Port staff had proposed charging $500 per ton or $15,000 per item to handle "aerospace and aircraft items" brought into the port, according to a story appearing in Florida Today.

But saying that the Port of Canaveral has a "good relationship" with California-based SpaceX, CEO John Murray pulled the item from the agenda for Wednesday's meeting, and it was not brought up for discussion.

Port and SpaceX officials did meet privately after the Port Authority meeting, but officials said that the meeting had been previously scheduled, and was not related to the aerospace tariff issue.
