CommuteAir Pilots Approve Contract With Major Pay Raise

Benefits And Work Rules Also See Improvements

The nearly 450 pilots at CommuteAir ratified a two-year contract extension that brings in significant improvements to their pay, benefits, and quality of life, and represents a major step forward in the airline’s efforts to attract and retain qualified pilots.

Of the 85 percent of pilots who voted, 87 percent voted to approve the agreement, demonstrating to CommuteAir the importance of recognizing the expertise and value the pilots bring to the airline.

CommuteAir is a United Express regional carrier, and its pilots are represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA).

Over the next four years, pilots will earn an additional 37.7% and up to 44% for captains, not including the minimum $20,000 sign-on bonus for new-hire first officers.

Pilots will no longer be required to repay retention bonuses, with full elimination of existing obligations by the end of July 2025.

Benefits enhancements include improved health care coverage options, better reserve rules for improved work-life balance, and mandatory minimum new-hire bonus of $20,000.

This contract places CommuteAir pilots among the highest paid in the regional airline industry and demonstrates the company’s commitment to its pilots and passengers. ALPA has long advocated for permanent changes to salaries and work rules, warning that without them pilots will continue to leave for other airlines that offer better pay, working conditions, and career opportunities.
