Stellar Aviation Expands in Reno, Nevada

New Facility Sees $25 Million Commitment

An FBO network is expanding at its location at the Reno-Tahoe International Airport, breaking ground on the first of 3 phases.

The expansion of their current Rock Boulevard locale will ultimately involve more than $25 million in investments over its 14-acre span, with 100 jobs created. Once complete, the location will sport 2 more hangars, a terminal, and 10,000 square feet of office space. The new facility comes as part of $500 million in approvals for the airport, which will someday add 2 additional concourses to the area.

Stellar CEO Brad Kost said the first phase should be open and ready for business by spring of 2024. The usual gamut of FBO services will be offered, with general aviation support and maintenance. Reno was seen as fertile ground to expand on, to the point that Daren Griffin, CEO of the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority said that the airport “desperately needs hangar space." Along with the greater boom in charter and business aviation, the popular airport has been stuffed to the rafters, and Steller's interest came at the perfect time.

Remarks at the groundbreaking ceremony hint that Stellar may continue its push into the nearby Carson City Airport, the 5th busiest in the state. The airport there is in the midst of improvements to runways and taxiways courtesy of FAA grants to the tune of $33 million.

“It’s just staggering — what’s happened to this community from a growth standpoint,” said Kost. “The economic development happening in Reno right now is significant and we want to be a part of that.”
