Classic Aero-TV: Intro To Quad-Copters–Horizon Hobby Explains A Model Revolution

From 2015 (YouTube Version): The Quadcopter Revolution Is In Full Swing... Here's Info On How To Join In!

While at eFest 2015, ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell, talks with a company known as Horizon Hobby to find out what’s going on in the rapidly changing world of remote control (RC) aircraft. In this interview, Jim talks with James Haley, the multirotor category manager for Horizon Hobby, about the new world of RC quadcopters.

The term “quadcopters” started when the first toy versions of the 4 rotor vertical lift type models hit the market. Horizon hobby uses the term multirotor because quadcopters have now progressed into more than 4 rotors.

Haley starts off by explaining that most people start small and then move up to the larger units. The variety available now is expanding rapidly, and the technology of automatic stabilization used in these units makes them very easy to fly. As Haley talks about the products, the video shows the various types of multirotor products that are available.

Quadcopter’s are the “new guys in town,” and many of the quadcopter shown in the video are specialized in capabilities, and the most popular of the capabilities is the inclusion of a video camera.

As Jim asked the questions, Haley provides an amazing amount of information that makes this video a great place to start if you are interested in a multirotor RC aircraft.

Be sure to look for our other Horizon Hobby videos that deal with airplanes and rotorcraft.
