Several Aircraft Vandalized At Placerville, CA Airport

Two Vehicles Also Stolen From Hangar At The Airport

Ten airplanes at the Placerville, CA airport (KPVF) were vandalized over the weekend, and two vehicles were stolen from a hangar on the field.

The Sacramento Bee reports that the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office confirmed that there were two reports of break-ins and thefts at the airport.

The Sheriff's office said that the first report came in on Monday morning, indicating that 10 airplanes had been vandalized. Windows had been smashed, and there were pry marks on the doors of some of the planes.

Airport Technician Matt Warden told the paper in a telephone interview that a string of fuel thefts and vandalism began about two months ago, and have gotten progressively worse. This past weekend's damage was the most extensive so far, he said.

While an access code is required to get to where the airplanes are stored on the field, Warden said the intruders have cut through the perimeter fence to gain access to the field.

There are about 100 private aircraft base at Placerville airport. The total amount of the damages is still being assessed.
