Atlas Air Acquires 20 767s For Amazon Operation

Prime Air Fleet Is Ready For Freighter Conversion

The fleet of 20 Boeing 767-300s to be leased to Amazon for its Prime Air service has been acquired by Atlas Air, according to the company's CEO.

Air Transport World reports that, according to Atlas Air CEO Bill Flynn, the company has also secured slots for the conversion of all of the aircraft to freighter configuration. Additionally, one spare aircraft will be dedicated to Amazon.

The wet-lease contract was signed last year with Amazon. A similar deal was inked with Ohio-based Air Transport Services Group.

Flynn said that Atlas expects to have all 20 of the airplanes in service for Amazon by the end of 2018.
