Diamond Aircraft, Cheongju University Announce Firm Order For Four DA40 NGs

South Korean Flight School Also Takes Options For Future Aircraft Next Year

Diamond Aircraft Industries and Cheongju University from South Korea finalized a firm order for four single-engine DA40 NGs and one D-SIM-40 flight simulator for deliveries in 2013 with option for further expansions in 2014. These are the first aircraft of this type from Diamond Aircraft in Korea.

The University of Cheongju, the largest private university in South Korea, is acquiring the aircraft and simulators for a new branch of study at the division of aeronautics where students will be trained to obtain their Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) with a bachelor’s degree.

All the new airplanes under the agreement will be equipped with Garmin G1000 glass cockpit avionics suites and are powered by the highly reliable and environmentally friendly Austro Engine Diesel engine AE300.

“We are happy to equip the flight education center of Cheongju University with the cost-effective, world-class single-engine DA40 NGs and D-SIM-40 flight simulator for student’s flight training. We are the first in Korea to operate DA40 NG of Diamond Aircraft, and we look forward to future cooperation of exchanges in various fields. Cheongju University plans to additionally purchase a DA42 NG and DA40 NGs, and we believe that those aircraft will contribute to the excellent education and training of student pilots in the future“, says Cheoungju University President Yoon-Bae Kim, Ph.D.

Christian Dries, CEO Diamond Aircraft ads: “We are glad also to have convinced our Korean partners with the most sophisticated flight training systems in the world. It shows that the concept of newest technology in airframe as well as in propulsion is especially appreciated in the eastern countries, where AVGas is not available. With Korea, Russia and China the order backlog for the DA40 training airplanes is now exceeding 200 units, which have to be delivered until mid 2014.”
