Avtutorials Produces Three iPad Apps For Sporty's

Tablet-Based Pilot Training Focuses On Critical Pilot Skills

Three pilot-training iPad apps have been developed by Aviation Tutorials Company (Avtutorials) and licensed them to Sporty's. The three apps focus on critical piloting skills. The apps are titled Mastering Stick And Rudder Flying, Getting Around On The Ground, and Airborne Radar.

Written by airline pilots and flight instructors, each app contains specific lessons that guide the pilot through trouble areas, including crosswind landings, traffic patterns, runway incursions, taxiing disorientation, thunderstorm safety, airborne radar use, and more.  Sixty such lessons in the three titles comprise a solid core of piloting knowledge and expertise.  The ultimate goal of the programs is to reduce the pilot's accident risk.

The key aspect of the programs is their interactivity.  These are no sit-and-watch slideshows; they're interactive, hands-on, step-by-step guides.  The pilot drags controls, moves knobs, controls bank angle, and more.  Two minutes of interaction in these programs convey more than twenty minutes of traditional book study.  The voice narration, 3D graphics, and animated sequences make learning easy.  It's also efficient, with each lesson taking around 20 minutes to complete.

The programs are ideal for pilots in training, flight reviews, and even experienced pilots who will discover important safety-of-flight details they might not have known.  Quizzes and a Final Exam test the user's knowledge, and FAA WINGS credit is provided.

"The iPad and the apps from Avtutorials really engage and connect the pilot interactively," said Sporty's Vice President John Zimmerman. "It's all about improving piloting confidence and knowledge, reducing accident risk, and making it easy for the pilot.  We're glad to offer these fantastic products from Avtutorials."

The three iPad apps expand Sporty's industry-leading collection of apps for pilots.  Avtutorials has been producing pilot training titles since 1995 and also offers the programs for Windows and Apple Mac operating systems.
