Eurojet Celebrates Delivery Of 1000th EJ200 Production Engine

Milestone Engine Delivered To Spain For Its Eurofighter Typhoon Fleet

Eurojet Turbo GmbH, the European consortium behind the EJ200 engine project, has delivered its 1000th EJ200 production engine. The landmark engine was assembled at the facilities of Industria de Turbo Propulsores S.A. (ITP) in Madrid, Spain and delivered to the Spanish Air Force on May 23, to power the Eurofighter Typhoon fleet.

Guest speakers at the celebration, which took place at the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Auswärtige Politik e.V. (DGAP) [German Council on Foreign Relations] in Berlin on June 4, included Mr Philip Dunne MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Defence Equipment, Support and Technology, United Kingdom and Mr Florian Hahn, MP, Member of the Defence Committee, Germany.

"This is a major milestone for this project and together the EJ200 and Eurofighter are a real and powerful example of what we can achieve together," Dunne said during his remarks.

"This is a European collaboration journey of success!" said Clemens Linden, Managing Director of Eurojet as the program ended.

Eurojet is contracted to produce over 1,500 EJ200 engines to power a total of 719 Eurofighter Typhoon multi-role combat aircraft on order by seven nations. Nearly 790 engines are already in service in Eurofighter Typhoon fleets operated by the Air Forces of Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Austria and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
