Texas Non-Profits Join Forces For Battleship Texas Memorial Flights

Flights To Take Place At Scholes International Airport

The Battleship Texas Foundation and the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) are partnering up in to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day Allied invasion of German-occupied France in the turning point of World War II.

The event was originally planned to feature the CAF’s C-47 Ready 4 Duty in a flight across the Atlantic to the Normandy beaches but maintenance issues intervened to prevent the flight.

This time, The CAF Dallas/Fort Worth Wing and Battleship Texas Foundation will commemorate the historic day with the Battleship Texas Memorial Flights which will take place on September 28 at Scholes International Airport (KGLS) in Galveston, Texas. The Ready 4 Duty will give people a rare opportunity to fly above the World War II Battleship Texas and the Galveston area from a unique perspective.

Passengers will receive a special gift of sand from both Omaha and Utah beaches where much of the invasion took place, and giving them a piece of history to display at home.

Seats can be scheduled for three different ride times: 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and Noon. Safety requirements state that riders must be at least 12 years of age and be able to enter and exit the aircraft unassisted.

Rides can be booked by following the link below.
