ALPA and NBAA Congratulate Sean Duffy On Nomination

Trump Names Former Congressman Secretary Of Transportation

The Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA) issued the following statement regarding former U.S. Representative Sean Duffy’s nomination as Secretary of Transportation:

“As the world’s largest non-governmental aviation safety organization, ALPA congratulates Sean Duffy on his nomination to lead the U.S. Department of Transportation. We appreciated our collaborative relationship when Mr. Duffy served in the House of Representatives and look forward to learning more about his priorities for the department, with which ALPA works closely to advance America’s global aviation leadership and keep flying safe and secure.”

ALPA was founded in 1931 and  represents more than 78,000 pilots at 41 U.S. and Canadian airlines.

Ed Bolen, the National Aviation Business Association (NBAA)’s President and CEO, issued the following statement on Duffy’s nomination:

“Sean Duffy’s experience in Congress demonstrates his ability to work with lawmakers in navigating complex legislative processes, including the advancement of infrastructure and transportation policies.

“Equally important, his representation of a predominantly rural congressional district gives him firsthand insight into the critical role of general aviation in towns with little or no airline service. We congratulate him on his nomination and look forward to his confirmation by the Senate.”

Duffy hails from Hayward, Wisconsin, and graduated from St. Mary’s University and earned his J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law. From 2002 to 2010 he served as the District Attorney for Ashland County, Wisconsin. He served in the House for nearly nine years and resigned from office in 2019 upon learning their soon-to-be-born ninth child would experience health complications. He supported infrastructure development policies including the 2018 FAA Reauthorization Act.
