GA Planes Collide On The Ground At Palatka, FL Airport

Cirrus SR22 Landed On Top Of A Cirrus SR20, No Injuries Were Reported

Two Cirrus aircraft were involved in an accident at Palatka Municipal Airport (28J) late last week. There were three people on board the two airplanes, but no one was injured, according to authorities.

The Florida Times Union reports that the SR22 was being flown by 40-year-old Robert Jack Daniel Meier, a former member of the Jacksonville Jaguars NFL team. The other aircraft was being flown by 29-year-old Luis Andres Salvador Zamb of Deland . The passenger aboard the SR20 was Xiao Wang, 28, of Sanford.

The FAA said in a statement that the SR20 landed on runway 27 at 28J first, and the SR22 landed on top of the other airplane. No other details were provided.

This is the third GA accident to occur in Putnam County, FL in three weeks, according to the report. In late February, a single-engine airplane went down in the St. Johns River near Fort Gates Ferry, resulting in the fatal injury of the two men on board. On March 6, a single-engine plane went down in the backyard of a residence about a mile the airport, injuring two people.
