Airwolf Aerospace to Provide STC'd TB17 Battery, Aviation Specialty Insurance Enstrom-Specific Program

Enstrom Helicopter Corp has expanded its deal with Airwolf Aerospace to include the firm's TB17 Lithium-Ion battery line from True Blue Power.

The change will see an STC-approved TB17 added as an option for all Enstrom 480B aircraft. As with nearly all lithium batteries, the change offers improved power delivery, reliability, and weight savings over traditional lead-acid batteries. Over the lifecycle of a traditional battery, operators see additional savings thanks to an 8-year average battery life for the True Blue Power kit. Even better, the TB17 only requires maintenance every 2 years. Enstrom will be attending this year's HAI HELI-EXPO with the new one in tow, showing off the options list for the 480B.

With up to 63% less weight than a traditional helicopter battery, customers can increase their useful load. 480B pilots can expect faster, cooler engine starts with a higher voltage for powerful starts. While at HELI-EXPO, Enstrom will likely drum up interest for their Enstrom Owner's Program, a special brand-specific insurance program they recently began offering again. The system offers tiered insurance rates for appropriately experienced pilots, liability limit options, instant rate indications, and such. Enstrom offers it in tandem with Aviation Specialty Insurance, the same underwriter they use for their own corporate aircraft.
