Classic Aero-TV: Schooled At Dronebiz U-DARTDrones Preps UAV Pilots for Commerce

From 2017 (YouTube Version): Flying a Drone Is More Than Just Charging the Batteries and Launching; You Need to Know What You’re Doing…

While at the AMA Expo West in Ontario, California in January 2017, ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell, was able to pick up a lot of news about model aircraft and the burgeoning area of model aircraft known as drones. Some people are into drones for recreational purposes, but others intend to use them for commercial operation. For the aspiring commercial drone operator training is very important.

By talking with a company by the name of DARTdrones, Jim finds out that training is important both for professionals as well as amateurs. Jim spoke with Bob Wess, who is a Flight Instructor for DARTdrones. As you’ll see in the videos, drone training is far more than reading a manual, charging the batteries, and launching.

Wess explains that the training courses involve the obvious need to know how to operate the equipment, but even more important is the need to understand the regulations that surround the operation of small drones. He points out that their programs teach amateurs how to comply with their end of the regulations, and they also teach the new, and somewhat complex, FAR 107 which apply specifically to commercial drone operation.

Watch the video and I’m sure it will open your eyes to everything that’s involved in what you need to know about drone operation.
