Skydiver Injured During Jump At Lodi Parachute Center

Jumper In Critical Conditions After Parachute Did Not Properly Deploy

A skydiver was critically injured last Thursday during a jump with the Lodi Parachute Center.

The Sacramento Bee reports that he skydiver's parachute tangled and did not properly deploy during the jump, according to Woodbridge Fire District Chief Steve Butler. The jumper landed on top of a horse trailer parked near the drop zone at Lodi Airport.

Skydiving operations went on after the accident jump, according to the report, but those preparing for later jumps were not anxious to talk to reporters.

The center was connected with a fatal accident in May that involved a person attempting a wingsuit jump. Three people were fatally injured in accidents connected with the operation in 2016.

FAA Spokesman Ian Gregor told the paper that the agency would conduct an investigation to determine whether the parachute was packed properly by a person certified to perform that task.
