Chicago Airports Chief Resigns

Last Day In The Position Will Be August 1

Chicago Aviation Chief Ginger Evans has resigned after just three years on the job. Her last day will be August 1.

The Daily Herald newspaper reports that Evans helped implement a runway rotation plan to distribute jet noise around the region. Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel said Evans (pictured) also negotiated an "historic" $8.7 billion deal to modernize O'Hare Airport, open two new runways and the first new gates in 25 years.

Evans' replacement will be the city's chief of procurement Jamie Rhee. "As a procurement expert, lawyer and former employee of the Department of Aviation, Jamie will be able to oversee upcoming construction projects while also managing airport operations," Emanuel said.

Officials did not give a reason for her resignation, or where she is going after she leaves the airport post.
