ASA Releases FAA Handbooks For Glider & Balloon Pilots

New Editions Updated to Modern Standards

Aviation Supplies and Academics (ASA) announced that its new editions of the Glider Flying Handbook and Balloon Flying Handbook have been updated to conform with modern standards and practices for safe glider and balloon flight and training operations.

The Glider Flying Handbook introduces basic pilot skills and knowledge required for flying gliders. It is beneficial for both new pilots as well as pilots preparing for additional certifications or simply wanting to improve their flying proficiency.

The Balloon Flying Handbook introduces the basic pilot skills and knowledge necessary for piloting balloons. It also leads pilots into the broad areas of information as you progress through other areas of pilot training and additional certifications. Like the Glider handbook, this one is also suitable for both new pilots and those seeking advanced certificates.

Both handbooks are the official FAA source for learning to fly gliders or balloons, and represent the basis for many of the questions on the FAA Knowledge Exams for pilots.

The Handbooks will be available in late January at the following prices:

  • Glider Flying Handbook (softcover, 8.25 x 10.75 inches, 280 pages) $28.95
  • Glider Flying Handbook (PDF) $28.95
  • Glider Flying Handbook (eBook) $28.95
  • Balloon Flying Handbook (softcover, 8.25 x 10.75 inches, 288 pages)   $28.95
  • Balloon Flying Handbook (PDF)   $28.95
  • Balloon Flying Handbook (eBook)   $28.95

The books can be purchased at your local FBO, Pilot Shop, Online Retailer, or at the link below.
