Pan American World Airways Employees Hold Reunion At Former Headquarters

Airline Ceased Operations Under Bankruptcy December 4, 1991

Former employees of Pan American World Airways (Pan Am) will gather in Miami, Florida on Saturday December 7, 2013 for a reunion to be held at their old headquarters on the Miami International Airport, currently the corporate offices of Pan Am International Flight Academy, the surviving training division of the airline.

Mary Diorio, President Pan Amigo Inc., said "We are very excited to have the opportunity to host 'Pan Am Day' and bring together the former employees of Pan American World Airways. This is a tightly knit group of people, still very connected and loyal to each other, with a great sense of pride having worked for what many still consider the world's greatest airline."

Pan American World Airways, the principal and largest international air carrier in the world ceased operations under bankruptcy on December 4, 1991.

Pan Amigo is inviting former employees, families and friends to join them for this noon to 4 p.m. free reunion, surrounded by Pan Am history as they mingle and share memories and experiences of their years of service with the airline.

"We thank Pan Am International Flight Academy for once again hosting this day which is special to so many," Diorio said. "Stepping through their doors is like coming home."

The building is a favorite of the reunion group—as it still prominently displays the large Airline logo on its exterior, has a stunning two story lobby with large murals and displays of Pan Am in its glory days, and houses a Pan Am memorabilia shop located on the mezzanine level overflowing with PAA merchandise.

Pan Am International Flight Academy continues to occupy the 200,000 sq-ft training facility the airline built for its expanding training division back in the early 1980's and has more years of experience than any other airline training company in the world, training on B737, B747, B777, A320, and every other major airline fleet type. The Academy's CEO Vito Cutrone, who himself started with the airline in the 1960's eventually becoming an executive officer, calls the former airline and its people his "family," and said he is pleased to welcome the reunion group and wishes everyone a pleasant and enjoyable experience.
