Secret Service agents assigned to the president’s or vice president’s detail are now able to train on an authentic Marine One helicopter that was recently decommissioned and installed at the James J. Rowley Training Center in Laurel, Maryland.

The Australian Society of Air Safety Investigators (ASASI) was formed in 1978 after an inaugural meeting held in Melbourne, Victoria. ASASI was formed to better serve and represent the views of Air Safety Investigators in Australia. Since then ASASI has grown to a membership of 150 plus and now hosts a biennial conference in conjunction with the New Zealand Society of Air Safety Investigators (NZSASI). Secondary Radar/Radar Beacon (ATCRBS)
A radar system in which the object to be detected is fitted with cooperative equipment in the form of a radio receiver/transmitter (transponder). Radar pulses transmitted from the searching transmitter/receiver (interrogator) site are received in the cooperative equipment and used to trigger a distinctive transmission from the transponder. This reply transmission, rather than a reflected signal, is then received back at the transmitter/receiver site for processing and display at an air traffic control facility.

To get the ‘new’ Marine One helicopter, Deputy Chief Mike Jazwiecki initiated a conversation that led to our partnership and relationship with the Presidential Helicopter[s] Program (PMA-274). We worked with their current commander, [Marine] Col. [Alex] Rantham, and their lead maintenance officer, Matt Cooper, in order to get this new aircraft."
