Pulls Gear Up, Modifications Put To The Test
Aviation Technology Group, Inc. told Aero-News Thursday the
company continues to make progress with its flight test program. On
Tuesday, ATG celebrated the completion of the Javelin’s first
gear-up flight, out of Denver's Centennial Airport (APA).
As with previous flight tests, ATG conducted the early morning
Javelin flight with a chase aircraft in formation. The
Javelin prototype's landing gear was cycled as the aircraft
maneuvered between 135 to 180 knots. With flaps at 10
degrees, the Javelin test pilot performed 30-degree bank turns
while continuing to assess handling qualities which included
longitudinal and lateral stability roll, performance and trim
effectiveness.
In previous months, the Javelin prototype underwent a series of
modifications to support future flight tests. The landing
gear system was upgraded to incorporate an emergency landing gear
extension, a new canopy with upgraded contour was installed, and
other minor improvements were made throughout the aircraft.
On February 22, ATG flew the Javelin prototype on a test flight
that confirmed the success of the new upgrades.
"This has been a great start to the year. Flight test results
continue to meet or exceed our expectations," said ATG Chairman
George Bye.
Incorporated in 2000, ATG is dedicated to the design,
development and production of the Javelin Mk-10 executive jet and
the Javelin Mk-20 military jet trainer. Initial customer deliveries
of the FAA-certified Javelin are slated for 2008.
