Vacaville, CA Approves Water Pact For Icon Aircraft

Will Allow The Company To Fill A Man-Made Lake For Water Testing Of The ICON A5

The city of Vacaville, CA and Icon Aircraft have reached a water purchase agreement that could lead to the filling of a man-made lake the company says it needs to test takeoff and landing capabilities for the ICON A5 airplane.

The two entities agreed to the pact in mid April. City Manager Laura Kuhn will complete the negotiations, according to Kathryn's Report.

The lake will be filled with untreated surface water from Lake Berryessa delivered from the Putah South Canal less than 1,000 feet from the lake, according to a city staff report. The cost of the water has not yet been determined, according to the report.

The lake will have a capacity of about 75 acre-feet. The proposal calls for it to be filled and occasionally replenished from Lake Berryessa.

An acre-foot is equal to 325,851 gallons, or enough to provide water for two families for a year, according to the Metropolitan Water District of California.
