Certified: Airgyro Celebrates the S-LSA Cert For Outback 2

Okay, what's so special about the attached pic of four happy guys at AirVenture 2008 with a new airplane in tow?

In this case, there is a lot to celebrate, as the Australian-built, SP 2000 Outback 2 not only attended the show, but also became a "U.S. citizen" by passing its final S-LSA inspection. From left to right, we find Airgyro's Chief Flight Instructor, Mike Burton, anticipating the flight home to Utah. Airgyro President, Nate Oldham, received a well-deserved pat on the back from Howard Hughes, designer and manufacturer of the Outback 2. On the far right, DAR Mike Huffman joined the fun after completing a tough inspection.

According to Nate Oldham, President of Airgyro Aviation, "Airgyro Aviation has been formed to offer customers the variety of aircraft they are looking for in addition to a full menu of services. Our primary focus at Airgyro Aviation is to bring the fun and affordability of sport aviation to a generation who may have thought recreational flying was simply out of reach. Our aircraft are chosen for their ease of flying and their safety features."

When asked to explain what is meant by the word "variety," Mr. Oldham notes, "Airgyro Aviation is the exclusive sales outlet for Higher Class Aviation's Sport Hornet and Australian Light Wings' SP 2000 Outback 2. The Sport Hornet was certified in 2007, but this is our first Outback 2 and we needed to complete the full S-LSA certification process.

Mr. Oldham continued, "The registration process was completed two days after the start of this years AirVenture show. We were lucky to have Mike Huffman available to travel from Atlanta to conduct the final inspection. S-LSA certification is not an easy task and the entire team did a great job." Mike Huffman added, "The Airgyro folks have worked hard to meet the ASTM standards and I am pleased to have been a participant in Airgyro's efforts to celebrate the certification of the Outback 2 at AirVenture, 2008"

The Outback 2 is built for the hard use common to flying in Australia. The primary fuselage structure is welded steel, incased in a sleek composite shell. Aluminum wings and steel landing gear add to the Outback's ability to operate from unprepared airfields. Mr. Oldham concluded, "We have the aircraft that you want, the financing and insurance to make it affordable, and the ongoing support to keep you flying for both fun and profit. And all of these services and products are wrapped into the SP 2000 Outback 2."
