Kentucky Man Posing As Veteran Arrested After Flight

Had Fraudulently Made Use Of Veterans Airlift Command

Authorities have arrested a central Kentucky man for posing as a wounded Marine and making use of services offered by non-profits for wounded veterans.

Veterans Airlift Command chairman Walt Fricke said that the organization knew Jeffrey Alcorn was not actually a former Marine suffering from PTSD, but the company played along, flying him from Lexington to Georgia where he picked up a service dog. "We provided the airlift to take him down, and the airlift to bring he and his dog and his wife back to Lexington," Fricke told television station WLEX.

But Fricke said a quick Google search made it pretty clear that Alcorn was not a veteran.

On returning to Lexington, Alcorn was arrested on two counts of theft by deception by state police and the FBI.

Fricke said the dog was returned to Paws 4 Life, a shelter in Georgia.
