Fred McCarter/Aviation Tax Consultants Scholarship Announced

EAA to Debut New Aviation Scholarship Fund

Year upon year, the EAA Aviation Foundation awards more than one-million-dollars in scholarships through various programs supporting upcoming generations of aviation enthusiasts.

Among the newest scholarships offered by the Association is the Aviation Tax Consultants Fred McCarter Scholarship Fund. Subject scholarship was created by Daniel Chueng, the late Mr. McCarter’s business partner, for purpose of honoring the latter’s legacy following his September 2022 passing.

Mr. McCarter is remembered as a father, grandfather, business owner, coach, pilot, and an impassioned lover of life.

Lisa McCarter, Fred’s widow, said of her husband: “Fred was all about living life to its fullest. A lot of people dream about doing things; Fred did them.”

For numerous years, Mr. McCarter coached his sons in youth sports and cheered on his daughter and grandchildren as they participated in myriad activities. He enjoyed being a pilot and taking family and friends on airborne adventures. Yet of all worldly things, McCarter loved best his family and held sacred his faith.

An accountant by profession and acutely aware of the unique consultational needs of persons acquiring general aviation aircraft, Mr. McCarter founded Aviation Tax Consultants (ATC).

“He recognized that he was blessed beyond measure,” Lisa recounted. “He was someone you could always count on.”

Mrs. McCarter added: “We continue to try and honor his legacy at ATC by working hard, playing hard, dreaming big, and living life to its fullest.”

The post-secondary scholarship created by Mr. Chueng honors his business partner’s memory, and will be awarded for the first time in May 2024 to an individual pursuing a career in aviation—preferentially a non-pilot career.

Parties interested in donating to support EAA scholarship initiatives are invited to visit the Association’s website.
