Will Attend 2007 Blue Angels Homecoming Air Show
Aero-News learned this weekend noted aviation enthusiast and
commercial pilot -- and Academy Award-winning actor -- Cliff
Robertson (below) will receive the 2007 National Aeronautic
Association (NAA) Wesley L. McDonald Elder Statesman of Aviation
Award on October 29.
The award, established in 1954, is presented annually to
individuals who have made contributions of significant value to
aeronautics over a period of years, and who have exhibited
qualities of patriotism, integrity, moral courage, and character
worthy of emulation. Other notables who have received the
award in previous years include Glenn Martin, Jimmy Doolittle,
Barry Goldwater, and Scott Crossfield.
This year Wesley L. McDonald's name was added to the award in
honor of the past NAA chairman.
"I am very grateful to everyone at the NAA for selecting me to
receive this honor, and I look forward to meeting everyone on the
29th," Robertson said.
Then, on November 9th and 10th, Mr. Robertson will be attending
the 2007 Blue Angels Homecoming Air Show at the National
Museum of Naval Aviation in Pensacola, FL.
The National Museum of Naval Aviation shares its home with the
US Navy’s Blue Angels flight demonstration squadron. During
the 2007 season, the Blue Angels perform practice air shows over
Naval Air Station Pensacola most Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at
8:30 am. In addition, following most of the Wednesday practices,
there are autograph sessions with the pilots inside the National
Museum of Naval Aviation.
Admission to the Blue Angel practices is free and open to the
public.
