Seventh Annual Holleyfest Fly-In/Camp-Out Coming Soon

September 23rd - 24th

The Holley Mountain Property Owners' Association, Inc. is holding its seventh annual Holleyfest fly-in/camp-out to promote safety in General Aviation throughout the Arkansas/regional aviation community and to the public at large. The event is held annually in the Ozark Mountains of north central Arkansas, leading off with the traditional Friday night storytelling and music around the campfire.

This year's activities include the usual "family style" mix of pilot education and aviator fun. The "open house" event incorporates pilot education seminars provided by the LIT FSDO (Wings program), onsite facilitation of the Pilot & Aircraft Courtesy Evaluation (PACE) program, and presentations/exhibits by such organizations as the Arkansas Department of Aeronautics and the United States Pilots Association.

These educational activities, all of which are completely free of charge, are open to participation by all pilots and may be observed the general public. They are presented in a family-friendly social setting which begins with a campfire gathering on Friday night.

Saturday's agenda includes games for youngsters, aviation awards and an ongoing artisan, crafts, and aviation vendors market in addition to the pilot education program.

A limited number of 12'x12' open air vendor spaces, some with electricity, are available, but may fill up quickly. "We are drawing many high-quality handcraft and artisan exhibitors," said Holley Mountain Airpark office manager Bill Collom. He coordinates this aspect of the event, emphasizing that booth spaces are assigned on a first-come/first-serve basis. All types of aviation and/or artisan products will be on display.

All activities are held on the 506-acre grounds of Holley Mountain Airpark, an aviation community with a lighted MIRL 4800' x 50' asphalt "public use" runway (2A2), outfitted with state-of-the-art multiple stage pilot operated runway lights, including PAPI lights, VASI lights, and Hali-Brite CD-600 REILs. Also, RNAV / GPS Approaches to both Runway 5 and 23 are FAA approved. Temporary Control Tower and Frequency for Saturday is 118.45Mhz.

General admission, parking, pilot education programs and nearly all recreational activities including camping are offered free of charge.
