Embraer And APG Launch Flight Operations Software For iPad

New Application Offers Convenience, Optimization And Safety To Customers In A Single Package

The iPad is continuing to make its mark in the aviation world as a flight planning and tracking tool. Embraer and APG (Aircraft Performance Group) have partnered to develop an iPreFlight application for the Phenom 100 and Phenom 300 executive jets. Constantly committed to providing solutions to meet its customers’ expressed needs, Embraer and APG have developed a complete iPad tool to offer convenience, optimization and safety in a single package.

“Embraer is very happy to offer its customers support solutions in line with their demands,” said Sérgio Cunha, Sr. Manager, Flight Operations Support – Embraer Executive Jets. “We are certain that with iPreFlight, customers will have the best flight operations tool available, which will make their experience with our aircraft even better and more delightful.”

This is much more than a simple application. It is a complete performance package that runs through the iPad. The software uses performance data that has been certified and approved by the certification authorities of Brazil (ANAC), the U.S. (FAA) and Europe (EASA). The application will be available from the Apple App Store and requires a subscription directly with APG, for which there is an initial trial period, free-of-charge.

Operators will be able to carry out crucial functions with iPreFlight, like optimizing aircraft payload for each runway utilized; calculating takeoff performance with the benefit of APG’s extensive airport database of runways and obstacles; accessing information such as NOTAMs and METARs of all airports on the route under consideration, as well as maps and charts; downloading and storing approach charts and airport diagrams; and reading updated weather information.

“The iPreflight consolidates several preflight functions into one program, not only ensuring accurate takeoff and landing performance limits and correct aircraft loading, but also allowing pilots to quickly calculate the available payload and fuel requirements for a flight,” said Rogers Hemphill, cofounder of APG.

The iPreFlight application will be first available to North American Phenom 100 and Phenom 300 customers, but it will soon be offered in other regions. Embraer and APG plan to have this tool available to the entire Embraer executive jets portfolio this year. About APG APG is a performance engineering firm based in Denver, Colorado, in the U.S. It was established in 1999, with the primary purpose of offering takeoff and landing data services to the airline and corporate flight operations industry. APG currently maintains an extensive database of airport information and supports over 3,000 business aircraft and 50 airlines worldwide. The company also has experience in digitizing Approved Flight Manuals (AFM) for use in its own performance programs, as well as in aircraft manufacturers’ programs.
