NTSB Acting Chairman Mark Rosenker On Southwest Flight
1248
On Wednesday, the second
and final day of public hearings into what led to a tragic runway
overrun accident at Chicago's Midway Airport last December wrapped
up... and with the information gathered during those hearings, it
is up to the National Transportation Safety Board to determine what
factors led to the accident, that caused the death of a
six-year-old boy.
Mark Rosenker is acting Chairman of the NTSB. In today's
exclusive interview with Aero-News... he says one aspect of the
accident that will get a lot of attention as the safety board
digests what it's heard over the past two days, are the various
stories about the slickness of the runway -- all of them subjective
-- the plane's pilots received enroute to the airport.
"We haven't done the specific analysis yet... so we have to take
a look specifically and analyze what the cockpit voice recorder
said, analyze any of the commuications between the airport and the
cockpit crwew, and recognize what dispatch provided," Rosenker
tells ANN Senior Editor Pete Combs in today's ANN Special
Report.
