Aero-News Quote of the Day
"Steve Fossett is giving K-State at Salina a fantastic
opportunity by asking us to lead the effort on the ground to make
his next record attempt successful... By choosing K-State at Salina
to provide support for his next attempt, he is doing just that --
giving our students a huge part to play in one of the most exciting
high-tech projects in the world today."

Dennis Kuhlman, on the expanded role his school will play in
adventurer Steve Fossett's latest record attempt, scheduled for
this month. Fossett will attempt to break the current closed
circuit distance record of 24,931 miles -- originally set during
the Voyager flight in 1986 -- by flying a slightly longer course
than his 2005 solo around-the-world flight, which also departed and
landed at Salina Municipal Airport. Students from K-State-Salina's
aviation department will handle all ground tasks, from maintenance
through mission control, during the attempt.
