AeroSports Update: Dick Rutan To Speak At BFA National Convention

Dick Rutan Is Featured As The Keynote Speaker At The Balloon Federation National Convention In April Of This Year.

Dick Rutan is known for his many aviation achievements, and ballooning can be counted as one of the many aviation adventures Rutan has experienced.

However, one of Rutan’s ballooning experiences resulted in a harrowing escape. In 1998 during his attempt at a third around-the-world record flight, his flight ended dramatically with an emergency parachute jump from a pressurized capsule suspended under a 110 foot hot air/helium balloon after experiencing a dangerous fabric tear.

The Balloon Federation of America is a membership organization dedicated to the art, sport and science of Ballooning, and to providing a unified voice for the purpose of representing U.S. balloonists and ballooning enthusiasts across the United States of America, its territories and possessions, before the international ballooning community.

Rutan’s extensive background in all areas of aviation can provide a valuable insight to flight testing and safety that can be applied across all aviation activities. It’s a sure bet that his keynote speech will be a dandy.

The 2015 BFA National Convention, “Spirit of the West,” will be held in Reno, NV on April 16 -19.
