Doc Hits the Road for the B-29 History Restored Tour

Colorado, Utah, Washington, Nevada, and Arizona to Host Classic WWII Bomber

The Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum will be the first host to the rare airworthy B-29, "Doc", as part of its History Restored Tour.

The Air and Space Museum will have the vintage bomber at its Exploration of Flight campus at Centennial Airport from May 6 to May 8, alongside a few more classic WWII aircraft. Those present will include a few North American aircraft, with a pair of P-51D Mustangs, a T-28, and an SNJ-5 Texan. The group will be rounded out by a Beech SNB-2, a Hawker Sea Fury, and additional aircraft expected to filter in as they complete other commitments.

“This tour will give warbird fans in these areas a unique opportunity to see one of only two B-29 Superfortresses still airworthy and flying today,” said Josh Wells, B-29 Doc executive director.

“Our mission with the B-29 Doc History Restored Tour is to tell the stories of the men and women who designed, built, flew and maintained these magnificent machines that helped deliver victory over oppression during World War II. We are dedicated to honoring the men and women who have served our nation, and who continue to fight to protect freedom at home and abroad.”

Additional Stops on the tour throughout May will see the show drop by Wendover, Utah; Spokane, Washington; Minden, Nevada; and Phoenix, Arizona. All stops will include ground and cockpit tours, as well as B-29 flight experiences with purchased tickets.
