Hexacopter Flies Into A Crowd At A Virginia Event

Several People Injured When The Aircraft Went Into The Stands At 'The Great Bull Run'

Several spectators attending the "Great Bull Run" being held at the Virginia Motorsports Park in Petersburg, VA Saturday suffered cuts and scrapes when a hexacopter capturing aerial video of the event dove into the grandstands.

Major W.B. Knott, of the Dinwiddie County sheriff’s office told The Washington Post that "four or five" people suffered "very minor" injuries when the small UAV unexpectedly appeared to go out of control and dive into the crowd.

A video posted on the website of television station WTVR in Richmond, VA, shows the aircraft hovering over the crowd before going down suddenly into the grandstands. Exactly who was capturing the video was not immediately determined.

The event itself is not without controversy. It is patterned after the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona, Spain. People run a measured course in front of 24 stampeding bulls. The event's website describes it as a "massive festival featuring live music, great food, cold beer, games and attractions."

The FAA is reportedly investigating the incident.
