SLU Partners With Midwest Helicopter To Offer Flight Training

Flight Instruction Available While Earning An Undergraduate Degree

The School for Professional Studies at Saint Louis University has launched a series of courses designed to prepare students to be certified by the FAA to fly helicopters. SLU is partnering with Midwest Helicopter to give students the option to train to become a helicopter pilot while earning their undergraduate degree from the University.

SLU is currently the only four-year Jesuit university to offer helicopter training. Students can take these courses as an emphasis paired with any bachelor's degree offered within the School for Professional Studies. Course schedules are designed for busy, working adults with convenient online and evening courses and accelerated terms. The new helicopter program is of particular interest to military personnel who can now take SLU classes at a reduced tuition rate.

"We are excited to be teaming up with Saint Louis University to offer this innovative program for students interested in flight training while pursuing their degree from the University," says Chris Bailey, CEO and Chief Pilot of Midwest Helicopter. "The demand in the helicopter industry continues to grow and I'm positive that our relationship with SLU will help to meet this demand and provide training paired with a quality, Jesuit education that students cannot get anywhere else."

The next term of classes begins March 16, 2015.
