NBAA Applauds Selection Of Georgia's John Barrow
The House General Aviation Caucus in Washington, DC has
appointed Representative John Barrow (D-GA) to serve as its
Democratic Co-Chairman when Congress convenes in early January. As
GA Caucus Co-Chair, Barrow will replace Rep. Allen Boyd (D-2-FL),
who helped create the caucus and has served as co-chairman since
its inception. Boyd was defeated in the recent elections.
Congressman Barrow
NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen praised the move. "Congressman
Barrow is very familiar with the essential role business aviation
has in promoting job creation," Bolen noted. "His congressional
district includes Savannah, Georgia, which is home to Gulfstream, a
major business aircraft manufacturer, and is also a base of
operation for companies whose business model depends on access to
general aviation airplanes. We are confident that he will be an
effective champion for our industry and its priorities, and we look
forward to working with him and the rest of the GA Caucus."
Barrow was re-elected to a fourth term in the U.S. House of
Representatives this month and currently serves on the House Energy
and Commerce Committee. He will join Rep. Sam Graves (R-6-MO) in
leading the caucus during the next Congressional session. Last
week, Graves was chosen to replace the retiring Rep. Vernon Ehlers
(R-3-MI) in co-chairing the caucus.
The House GA Caucus has over 120 members, making it among the
largest caucuses in the House of Representatives. Lawmakers in the
House and Senate formed GA Caucuses in 2009 to inform members and
staff about the importance of GA to the nation's economy and
transportation system.
It is expected that the Senate GA Caucus will continue to be led
by Sens. Mark Begich (D-AK) and Mike Johanns (R-NE). There are
currently 31 members of the Senate GA Caucus.
