TSA Agent Arrested For Stealing Cash From Luggage

Incident Occurred At Orlando International Airport

A recently-hired TSA agent was fired after just a few months on the job at Orlando International Airport, and he is facing criminal charges for allegedly stealing cash from a passenger's luggage.

Alexander Shae Johnson, 22, has been charged with third-degree felony grand theft, according to court records.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that a passenger who had been randomly selected for pat-down screening noticed Johnson standing near hear bag. When the screening was complete, she checked her bag and found that money she had placed inside was missing. She said she also noticed a bulge in Johnson's shirt pocket, which turned out to be cash.

Johnson said that the cash was his, but airport security cameras told a different story, and he was arrested.

TSA said in a statement that Johnson had been fired. “TSA has a zero tolerance for misconduct in the workplace,” TSA spokeswoman Sari Koshetz said in a statement. “The TSA immediately reported the allegation to OPD and we aggressively investigated the incident with our law enforcement partner.”

Johnson was reportedly booked into the Orange County, FL jail and has since been released on bond.
