Among those confirmed to be aboard the aircraft were Oklahoma State University women's basketball coach Kurt Budke, and assistant coach Miranda Serna. University officials say that former Oklahoma State Senator Olin Branstetter and his wife Paula were also fatally injured, according to a report from CNN.

The FAA preliminary accident report indicates that skies were clear with 10 miles of visibility and an 8 knot wind out of the south at the time of the accident. The report indicates that the accident occurred under "unknown" circumstances. Phase of flight is also listed as "unknown."

FAA records show the aircraft as a 1964 model PA-28-180 similar to the one pictured registered to Branstetter, and co-owned by he and his wife.
