Aero-TV: AUVSI's Brian Wynne - Reaching Out To The Rest Of The Aviation World

A Turbulent Industry Makes Progress Despite Poor Public Perception

The Unmanned Systems 2015 Conference was presented by the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International, better known as the AUVSI. ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell, attended the convention this year and talked with Brian Wynne, the president and CEO of AUVSI.

Wynne explained that AUVSI represents many forms of unmanned vehicles. While it’s common for those of us in the aviation business to equate them to aircraft, Wynne says big things are also happening with unmanned ground vehicles and unmanned maritime vehicles.

A prime subject discussed in this interview is the issue of airborne automated systems and the potential danger they could present to manned aircraft. Wynne elaborates on this subject to some extent, and you’ll find AUVSI’s views on safety and proper operation of unmanned aerial systems is a key part of the Association’s function. He also points out that AUVSI works closely with organizations like the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) to find a way to assure that hobbyists continue to enjoy their recreational model aircraft activities.

In the video you’ll follow the discussion as the issues of safety, industry advancement, and how the future of unmanned vehicles can play an important role in everybody’s lives.
