Duncan Aviation Installs Its First Gogo AVANCE L5 System

System Now Aboard A Gulfstream GIV-SP Bizjet

The skilled avionics installation technicians at Duncan Aviation’s Battle Creek, Michigan, facility have installed the company’s first Gogo AVANCE L5 from Gogo Business Aviation, in a Gulfstream GIV-SP. Gogo AVANCE L5 is a complete Wi-Fi system that operates on the Gogo Biz 4G network. This industry-first installation will let cabin passengers take advantage of greater network capabilities and speeds that are up to three times faster than Gogo’s 3G network provides.

The system is designed specifically for business aircraft and offers enhanced connectivity applications, which means passengers  will enjoy an improved online user experience while in flight. The Gogo AVANCE L5 lets passengers stream audio and video, send email with large attachments, make phone calls, or send text messages with less latency.

“Duncan Aviation has been a leader in the industry when it comes to the integration of in-flight connectivity into business jet aircraft, having installed more than 600 Gogo Air-to-Ground (ATG) services in more than 12 aircraft models,” says Avionics Sales & Service Representative Dennis Kruse.

Duncan Aviation has developed a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the Gogo AVANCE L5 for the GIV-SP, which covers the Wi-Fi certification and the full equipment and antenna installation. The system developed by Gogo Business Aviation uses a dual-band router, which provides the network users with the best in-flight connectivity experience available.

Duncan Aviation’s AVANCE L5 STC applies to multiple large-cabin Gulfstream models, and the company has several installations into Gulfstream aircraft scheduled prior to the end of this year. By early 2018, Duncan Aviation will add STCs for the Dassault Falcon 900 and 2000 series and Bombardier Challenger 600 and 300 series aircraft to the list of fully certified installations.

The Engineering & Certification Team designed the STC to accommodate future system advances in in-flight connectivity. Clients who choose STCs developed by Duncan Aviation for certified installations will be positioned to meet the ever-evolving and improving in-flight connectivity options well into the future.
