Compass Airlines Flight Attendants Overwhelmingly Support Strike

NMB Would Have To Start 30 Day 'Cooling-Off' Clock Before Labor Action Could Occur

Compass Airlines flight attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), have authorized a strike should negotiations with management fail to reach an agreement that can be ratified. The strike was authorized by an overwhelming 94 percent of participating flight attendants. Compass is a Delta Connection carrier.

"Compass Airlines flight attendants have built a solid reputation as the Best in Class flying partner for Delta, achieving top spots in Delta's performance matrix consistently for several years. However, Compass flight attendants earn between $14,000 and $19,000 a year. Today's results show that even in the face of challenging management tactics for several years, flight attendants stand proud and united. We are sending a clear message to management that we will do whatever it takes to get a fair contract, one that includes a living wage. We will continue to provide the premier level of service we provide to Delta's flying public," said Catriona Bagley, AFA Compass President.

AFA has a trademarked strike strategy known as CHAOS or Create Havoc Around Our System.  With CHAOS, a strike could affect the entire system or a single flight.  The union decides when, where and how to strike without notice to management or passengers. Management's refusal to address Flight Attendant concerns could lead to CHAOS if the National Mediation Board (NMB) declares that negotiations are deadlocked and releases the parties into a 30-day "cooling-off" period and strike deadline.

Compass provides approximately 190 daily flights to over 50 Delta Air Lines destinations. Compass Airlines is wholly owned by Trans States Holdings of St. Louis and is headquartered in Minneapolis.
