Rockwell Collins Lands Navy Helicopter Training Contract

The U.S. Navy has awarded a contract to Rockwell Collins for its MH-60 Weapons Load Trainer (WLT) program. The program, valued at $26 million, calls for Rockwell Collins to modify an existing H-60F trainer and build four new H-60 WLTs.

"This contract demonstrates that Rockwell Collins is viewed as a trusted provider of quality trainers for the military," said Tony Syme, vice president of Simulation & Training Solutions for Rockwell Collins.

"We look forward to providing the Navy with advanced training technology now and in the future."

The WLTs will train aviation ordinance personnel in the reconfiguration of the MH-60 aircraft (pictured below) to fly various combat missions. The WLTs will allow operators to train in loading various torpedoes and installing Hellfire weapon shapes, sonobuoy launchers, chaff/flare dispensers, a gun turret or an extra fuel tank.

The contract contains provisions for future upgrades, including various anti-mine and minesweeping opportunities.
