National Accreditation Recognized By The FAA
Three instructors have renewed or earned their first Master Instructor designation in the month of December.
Master Instructors LLC said in a news release that all were accredited as Masters by Master Instructors LLC, the international Master Instructor accrediting authority. All obtained their designation through the Master Instructor "Fluid Review" program online.
Professional aviation educators who earned or renewed their "Master" title during December 2017 are:
Burton Loyal "Burt" Stevens, Woodbury, CT Master CFI
Burt Stevens, a 3-time Master and SAFE member, renewed his Master CFI accreditation on November 30. Burt is a ground and flight instructor as well as president of the Oxford Flying Club at Oxford Airport (OXC) where he specializes in primary, instrument, and multiengine training. He also serves as a professional ski instructor as well as a FAASTeam representative in the FAA's Windsor Locks FSDO area. E-mail: BStevens@snet.net

John Shannon Mahany, Long Beach, CA, Master CFI
John S Mahany, a 6-time Master and SAFE member, recently renewed his Master CFI accreditation December 17. John is a flight, ground and simulator instructor pilot with Flight Safety International at their Long Beach (California) Learning Center. He is also a volunteer Young Eagles pilot and flight advisor for EAA's Chapter 7 ( http://www.EAA7.org/Contact ) in addition to serving as a FAASTeam lead representative in the FAA's Long Beach FSDO area. Larry Alan "Bat" Cross, Arlington, TX. Master CFI-Aerobatic
Larry A Cross, a 1st-time Master as well as a member of SAFE and IAC, earned his Master CFI-Aerobatic accreditation on December 17. A former US Air Force officer and instructor pilot, Larry specializes in aerobatics, upset prevention, upset recovery, and simulator training for highly experienced pilots with Aviation Performance Solutions LLC at Arlington Municipal Airport (GKY). Many of the most recent National Flight Instructors of the Year or National FAASTeam Representatives of the Year were Master CFIs. In addition, the FAA has approved the accreditation as an alternate means for CFIs to renew their flight instructor certificates.
