Helicopter Down In Palm Beach County FL

Two On Board, One Fatally Injured

A Robinson R22 helicopter went down Monday on a training flight near Lantana Airport in Florida's Palm Beach County. Officials confirm that one person was fatally injured, and one was transported to a local hospital.

Television station WPTV reports that the aircraft went down at about 1030 local time Monday morning. It went down just beyond the airport's perimeter fence in John Prince Park.

On Tuesday, Palm Beach County Sheriff's officials identified the person fatally injured as pilot Luis Aviles, 34. His student, Jonathan Desouza of Boynton Beach, FL, was in critical condition, according to the Associated Press.
