The U.S. Sport Aviation Expo at Sebring, Florida allows everyone to take a look at what is new and what is tried-and-true.
ANN News Editor Tom Patton stopped by Bristell Aircraft to look at something that is both tried-and-true, yet it has a new twist. Bristell has now introduced a taildragger version of their popular tricycle gear airplane.
Bristell’s president, Louis Mancuso, explained there were several reasons to go with a taildragger variation of their popular LSA. Aside from the obvious advantage of rough field operation and more prop clearance, going to a tailwheel reduce the weight of the airplane thereby increasing the performance. The useful load of the airplane is just shy of the weight of the airplane. The lighter weight also allows a finer pitched prop which increases the initial rate of climb over the tricycle gear version.
The aircraft has always been noted for its sumptuous interior and Mancuso goes through the list of interior and avionics options. You have to watch the video to view these options and to hear and see the variations offered in avionics installations. And, in case you want to go camping, there’s some interesting news about a camper option. Tune in for the details!
