Garmin Announces Expanded AML For ADS-B In/Out

Adds Several New Business Aircraft To Approved Model List

Garmin International has announced availability and the addition of several popular business aircraft to a comprehensive aircraft model list, which are eligible for Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) solutions through select members of the Garmin Authorized Dealer Network.

Garmin’s suite of ADS-B solutions address the market’s desire for a cost-effective ADS-B In/Out solution among popular business aircraft, while leveraging existing equipment to minimize cost and installation time associated with an ADS-B upgrade.

“A number of business aircraft operators continue to approach Garmin for an ADS-B upgrade path,” said Carl Wolf, vice president of aviation marketing and sales. “Alongside our valued partners, we are progressively developing solutions that are tailored to each airframe and their particular operations and we are thrilled to provide a wide-range of business aircraft with an economical ADS-B In/Out solution designed to exceed operator expectations.”

Garmin’s suite of ADS-B solutions provides business aircraft owners and operators with a cost-effective and timely ADS-B upgrade path. Seamless integration between existing equipment such as TCAS systems and transponder control heads alleviates the need for costly legacy system upgrades. Garmin’s economical solutions satisfy global ADS-B requirements while providing pilots and crew with a familiar interface to the upgraded system.

Garmin ADS-B solutions are certified and currently available for the following aircraft through the subsequent partners:

  • Learjet 60; Butler Avionics
  • Cessna Citation 550/560; Columbia Avionics & JetTech LLC.
  • Gulfstream G150/G200; Gulfstream Service Centers

Garmin continues to work with select Garmin Authorized Dealers to approve additional ADS-B solutions via Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) in the following aircraft, which are pending certification and will be made available to the Garmin Dealer Network:

  • Learjet 35A; Butler Avionics
  • Beechjet 400A/Hawker 400XP; Elliott Aviation
  • Hawker 750, 800A/XP, 850XP, 900XP; Elliott Aviation
  • Hawker 1000; Elliott Aviation
  • Premier I/IA; Stevens Aviation

Garmin’s ADS-B solutions consist of several configurations that are optimized for each individual aircraft type. Basic configurations consist of the GDL 88 ADS-B datalink and GTX 3000 Mode S Extended Squitter (ES) transponder. The GTX 3000 leverages the GDL 88’s internal WAAS/SBAS receiver to broadcast aircraft identity, state and intent information (DO-260B compliant) to air traffic control and provides operators with a cost-effective WAAS position source. Adding Garmin’s Flight Stream wireless datalink to these solutions offers crewmembers quick and easy wireless access to beneficial Flight Information Service-Broadcast (FIS-B) weather and Traffic Information Service-Broadcast (TIS-B) information on approved mobile devices in the cockpit (available on select aircraft).

On qualifying airframes, the addition of the GTN 650/750 touchscreen GPS/NAV/COM/FMS provides additional capabilities, including access to fully coupled WAAS/LPV approaches, electronic charts and more.

Garmin expects to announce additional aircraft and partners as they continue to serve this market.
