AD: The Boeing Company Airplanes

AD NUMBER: 2017-22-04

PRODUCT: Certain Boeing Model 737-200, -200C, -300, -400, and -500 series airplanes.

ACTION: Final Rule.

SUMMARY: This AD was prompted by reports of skin doublers that disbonded from their skin panels. This AD requires repetitive inspections of fuselage skin panels, and applicable on-condition actions. We are issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.

COST: The FAA estimates that this AD affects 169 airplanes of U.S. registry. The cost of compliance is estimated to be $15,300 per aircraft per inspection cycle for external general visual and detailed inspections; $38,250 per aircraft per inspection cycle for external high frequency bond test inspection, and; $53,550 per aircraft per inspection cycle for ultrasonic disbond inspection and internal detailed skin inspection.

DATES: This AD is effective November 30, 2017.
