Kelly Ayotte's Appointment Praised By A4A
U.S. Senator John Thune (R-S.D.), the Ranking Republican on the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, has named New Hampshire Senator Kelly Ayotte (pictured) as the top GOP member of the panel's transportation subcommittee for the 113th Congress.
“I am honored to serve on the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee in this new capacity and am excited to welcome five new Republican members to the Committee,” said Thune. “I look forward to working with all of my committee colleagues on the crucial issues facing our nation, including telecommunications, America’s surface transportation and aviation-related needs, as well as a host of other matters under the Commerce Committee’s wide jurisdiction.”
The appointment was praised by airline industry trade organization Airlines for America (A4A). "Senator Ayotte has demonstrated a keen understanding of the importance of creating a positive policy climate for U.S. businesses to compete globally and create U.S. jobs," said A4A President and CEO Nicholas E. Calio. "In her new capacity as ranking member of the aviation subcommittee and member of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, Sen. Ayotte is well-positioned to promote polices that will enhance the economic viability and global competitiveness of our nation's airlines, and ensure that our National Airspace System remains the safest and most efficient in the world."
