Airborne 03.18.20: More Icon Double-Talk, EBAA Cancelled, Tamarack Reorganizes

Also: NAA Postpones Collier, UAL Cuts 60%, Artemis I Mission Update, Norwegian Cancels 85 Percent

Special Note: Tomorrow's episode of the AMA Drone Report will be put off a week in order to present an Airborne Unlimited program so that we may keep you properly updated about the turbulent issues the aviation world is current facing.

Recent Icon Aircraft communications indicate that the company’s days of hype may not be over. Thomas Wieners, Icon’s most recent President and COO, seemed to be more upfront than past Boss, Kirk Hawkins, until he ramped up the puffery in company communications that patted itself on the back for a number of issues. The big news is that the exorbitant price of an Icon A5 has finally come down... but probably not enough to be  competitive alongside similar category aircraft like the Progressive Aerodyne Searey or the Seamax M-22 -- both of which are being offered at prices less than half that of Icon’s new price. EBAA and NBAA have cancelled EBACE2020, due to concerns related to the rapidly evolving coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. The event was scheduled to take place in Geneva from May 26-28, 2020. Both business aviation groups have closely monitored the COVID-19 spread, which has prompted daily, evolving announcements from government and medical authorities in the U.S. and Europe, impacting large public gatherings, travel planning and other decision-making. The partner organizations’ decision came as the Swiss authorities announced that all events of more than 100 people will be banned until at least April 30. The Plan of Reorganization filed by Tamarack Aerospace Group was confirmed by the United States District Court for Eastern Washington on March 2, 2020, clearing the way for the company to begin the process to emerge from its voluntary bankruptcy. The Plan of Reorganization was affirmed by all voting classes without objection, includes repayment of all creditors in full and affirms that the Tamarack shareholders remain intact. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
