While the aviation world reels back from various concerns due to the world-wide pandemic, even the massive AUVSI Tradeshow, XPONENTIAL , has had to announce a postponement. AUVSI XPONENTIAL 2020, was to be held at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center on May 4 to 7, 2020.

AUVSI has identified Aug. 10 to 12, 2020, as tentative dates to reschedule the event. Held for the past 47 years, the conference attracts more than 8,500 attendees and 700 exhibitors from around the world. If you look around, there are plenty of drone challenges sponsored by industry, academia, non-profits, and government agencies. But the organizers of the First Responder UAS Endurance Challenge say theirs will be the one most worthy of your time. The Challenge is being implemented by Capital Consulting Corporation and Arizona State University Research Enterprise (ASURE) under contract with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Public Safety Communication Research (PSCR) Division. Participants will be asked to create and build a powerful drone intended to support critical, life-saving missions which push the innovation envelope. Applications are now being accepted for NASA Langley's Safeguard with Autonomous Navigation Demonstration (SAND) Challenge. The SAND Challenge is an opportunity for small businesses to compete in an autonomous UAV competition for a grand prize of $20,000 under the America Competes Act. The challenge will address some of the safety critical risks associated with flying UAVs in the national airspace system such as flight outside of approved airspace, unsafe proximity to people or property, and critical system failure. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne-Unmanned!!!
