Aspen Glass Now Factory Option On Cabri G2 Helicopters

Replaces Analog Gauges In Helos Manufactured By Helicopteres Guimbal Of France

Aspen Avionics has announced that the EFD1000 Primary Flight Display System (PFD) system is now available as a factory option on the Cabri G2 helicopter manufactured by Helicopteres Guimbal of France.

The Evolution PFD is a compact, lightweight, solid-state electronic flight instrument system which provides a modern alternative to mechanical attitude indicators, directional gyros and horizontal situation indicators (HSI). New Cabri customers have an option to select a solid-state display system providing a wide selection of critical air data such attitude, HSI, airspeed, altitude, and vertical speed capability among many other capabilities in a compact, glass panel electronic format.

“The helicopter market is realizing the safety-enhancing benefits of Aspen’s glass panel technology,” says Mark Ferrari, Aspen’s vice president of sales and customer support. The Cabri G2 platform is a great helicopter to showcase our reliable and versatile primary flight display and we expect this solution will be especially attractive to Cabri customers such as flight schools.”

PFD features:

  • Airspeed, attitude, altitude, turn rate, slip/skid, magnetic direction and vertical speed
  • Horizontal situation indicator (HSI)
  • DG and HSI pilot configurable for either 360 degree or 100 degree arc views
  • HSI version provides full interface with navigation receivers
  • Solid-state air data computer and attitude reference system
  • Built-in 30 minute backup battery

"The Aspen is a perfect fit to the Cabri G2 and its missions. It complements the company-developed multi-function display to form a modern and attractive glass panel that will fulfill our customers’ needs," said Bruno Guimbal, president and CEO of Helicopteres Guimbal. "We are enjoying great success with the Cabri G2 with professional flight schools, where pilots want to train to fly bigger helicopters with modern avionics. The Aspen provides them the state-of-the-art ADI and HSI, and it gives them all the features they want in a compact and elegant unit at a cost of ownership that matches the Cabri G2 unique operating economy.”
