We spoke with Jet It Co-founder and CEO Glenn Gonzales for a chat about their aviator-focused hybrid ownership program. Accompanied by one of their fleet's HondaJets, we go over the basics of putting the plane within reach for pilots and customers who may not want to outright purchase one for infrequent use.
In contrast to other fractional ownership arrangements, Jet It allows customers to custom tailor their ownership to their use frequency. "If you know you've got 30 trips a year you need to do, we've got a program for you...Your monthly expense with Jet It is going to be less than what you'd pay for your insurance on an annual basis, especially with the tightening of the insurance market. And on top of all that, there's no repositioning fees, no handling charges." Glenn said.
We also talked about their Red Jet Squadron, a pilot's take on fractional ownership that brings the aircraft and a captain. Perfect for pilots looking to move up to jets or increase their mission capability, proficiency, and safety, Jet It offers an empty right seat for those pilots inclined to fly themselves.
"Being able to fly and have this much airplane available to you, crossing half of the country flying at 43,000 ft, at 422 knots or 0.72 mach, at $1600 an hour, it's really just an unmatched value only Jet It provides."
When asked about their dispatch reliability, a common drawback of fractional ownership schemes, Glenn described the Honda's "incredible" reliability and simplicity as boons to consistent mission capability. He also mentions increasing their coverage with their quickly growing fleet. Operating 9 jets in the US, 1 in Europe, with more to come for Canada. By years' end, they hope to have 18 airplanes, and, if all goes well, over 30, down the line.
Glenn also describes a typical customer experience: "All you have to do is call us, email us, text us, you can communicate through the app, all you have to do is tell us when you want to fly out. The airplane will be there fueled and ready to go at your takeoff time. If you want to do more, we'll share as much information with you as you like."
He describes the treatment a member receives as the same as their pilot employees. "You're part of the team" Glenn describes. Jet It's options include 1/10 to 1/2 of owning a HondaJet Elite with an hourly rate of $1,600.
